On October 25th, 2012, STM’s Religion hallway was transformed into Thomas More Manor. It took the prefects hostage for the night, turning them into nightmarish dolls, gruesome zombies, and many more horrifying creatures. The prefects prepared for this event for weeks.
In keeping with STM's Halloween traditions, the prefects crafted the idea of Thomas More Manor. Roles were created and a setting was established. Some of you probably saw the prefects creating and painting the murals that lined the hall of the manor. With the cooperation of all 22 prefects, the murals were finished in four days. Now only finishing touches were to be put on the manor.
Costume preparation began and numerous props were collected. Severed limbs and corpses were all accounted for and shirts were ripped and stained with “blood”. The manor was ready.
When October 25th finally arrived, the prefects’ excitement was contagious. Setting up the manor could not come soon enough. Brenda Andrade, a grade 12 cosmetology student, perfected the look of the manor residents by transforming them from regular students into terrifying creatures.
When STM students started to come through the manor, it was such a blast. Although it may have seemed scary to outsiders, it was actually really fun. In between groups, the prefects discussed how to improve reactions, how to mix it up, and just gave each other feedback.
Overall, the house was a huge success. There was a line up all night, and all the proceeds went to Halloween 4 Hunger. Hopefully everyone who went through had a great time because the prefects sure did. Were you scared?
