On Friday, September 28th, 2012, STM had its first football buyout of the school year. Students who purchased tickets were dismissed at 12:30 p.m. and made their way to our brand new bleachers. Black, gold, and white filled the stands as students proudly wore their spirit wear.
The Co-instructional Committee held a delicious BBQ offering hotdogs, hamburgers, potato chips, and drinks for students and staff, with all proceeds going to charity. Knight rMore, STM's band, performed and added to the excitment of the day. Tommy the Knight, our school mascot, also entertained the crowd. It was a very successful and fun event.
Before the games, STM's Step Squad performed, followed by our national anthem. The loud crowd supported and cheered for our boys as they took on Cardinal Newman.
The Senior boys played from 1-3pm, and STM got its first touchdown with only 5 minutes left in the first quarter. Our cheerleaders enthusiastically supported the boys throughout the whole game and performed an amazing half time show to “Turn Up The Music” by Chris Brown. The boys finished with an impressive win of 37-21. Excitement filled the bleachers as our Knights beat the Cardinals!
The Junior boys played from 3-5pm. The boys showed excellent teamwork and performed well out on the field, but lost 35-10. We are proud of their effort and we will get them next time Knights! After many practices and a lot of hard work, both teams played tough games against Cardinal Newman. Special thanks to the Co-instructional Committee, Athletic Council, coaches, staff, students, and all others who came out to support our boys!
