On Friday, October 5th, STM held its second annual MORE Movement Day during periods three and four on our football field. The fundraiser consisted of activities such as Zumba, kickboxing, skipping, ultimate Frisbee, walking or running, soccer, and basketball. Students rushed to buy Booster Juice and lined up for a delicious barbecue organized by our cafeteria staff. Music blasted on two separate speakers, one for Zumba dancers and the other for kickboxing, entertaining everyone and creating a cheerful atmosphere for all to enjoy.
Many STM students were able to come out and support the fundraiser for Breast Cancer patients by wearing a sporty top and donating spare change to cancer research. This MORE Movement Day was held not only for students to exercise and have fun, but also in memory of two staff members, Mrs. Baswick and Mrs. Albano, who sadly passed away this summer from breast cancer.
Twelve prizes, cafeteria cards worth five dollars each, were awarded to the "Most Enthusiastic" participants in various activities and one prize, a ten dollar cafeteria gift card, was awarded per period to the "Overall Best" participants. Everyone was able to participate and have fun while learning that exercise can be exhilarating and beneficial.
Thank you to the teacher supervisors, the cafeteria, prefects, Student Council, Booster Juice, the Healthy Action Team (HAT) and, most importantly, the students and staff who participated in MORE Movement Day for making this fundraiser an amazing and memorable day.
