On November 16, 2012, the STM Junior Boys' Football team played an outstanding game against Cardinal Newman. STM won with a score of 26-24. Although students couldn't buy out of class to see the game, they wore spirit wear to show their support.
Both coaches were pleased with the way the boys played and how they managed to reach their full potential. Coach DeStephanis said the team did this by "[cutting] down on [their] mental mistakes," because they knew that "if [they] could do that [they] would have a good chance of winning the game." Mr. Luvisa, one of the coaches, stated that "[the team] played great and they soaked up everything [the coaches] told them for the Newman game."
Since the team won its semi-final game, the boys advanced to the championship game which took place on Thursday, November 22nd at McMaster University against the Bishop Tonnos Titans. STM students had a chance to buy out and cheer on the Junior team who came from behind to win the game, and the city championship, by the score of 21-14. Overall, both coaches are very pleased with the Junior team's performance this season.
