From a cowgirl to a stick man, the students of STM dressed in a variety of creative costumes and flocked to our school cafeteria-turned dance floor on October 25th. Once the lights were out and the music was up, the students began to dance the night away. While some danced, others lined up for the Prefect's haunted house, ready to fear for their lives. When crowds exited the haunted house they had looks of terror on their faces, scaring the people waiting in line to enter.
As it neared 10:00 p.m., members of Student Council hopped up onto the stage and hosted the school's annual Halloween costume contest. To start it off, they called up some of the male costumes that they thought were best and the Ostrich Racer won by a landslide (then again, who doesn't love a guy riding an ostrich?). Next up were the best female costumes. It's a good thing it wasn't midnight yet, because Cinderella took the win for that contest. Then the best couples came up to the stage and, though it was close between the Minnie Mouse girls and the Starbucks girls, the crowd chanted for the Starbucks girls until they achieved success. To close the contest, the best group costumes were brought to the stage. This was a clear win for the group of Nerds who got a good laugh from the crowd when they posed after their victory was announced.
Overall, the dance was amazing but would have been even better if the DJ had played some songs more people recognized. Student Council pulled through after a lot of hard work setting up and planning the dance. STM can't wait to see what they have in store for our next dance!
