Strange things can happen on Halloween and this year, teachers disappeared, leaving new, abnormal people and creatures in their places. Of course, that is the unofficial story. The real story is that on Halloween, some first period teachers were dressed in creative Halloween costumes by their students.
Ms. Hall, as Smurfette, took first place in the Dress Your Teacher competition. The dedication shown was quite impressive. Students could see Ms. Hall walking around the school throughout the day with her costume on proud display. Other teachers dressed up as well. There was a Miss STM and an '80's girl, among others but I think I speak for everyone when I say that to allow a class to paint your face Smurf-blue takes courage.
Last year, my first period teacher let my class dress her up. It was probably the most chaotic morning. There was construction paper everywhere, people scrambling all over the place, and my teacher at the front of the room waiting to be transformed. Unfortunately, we did not win first prize. Apparently World Peace has nothing on Lady Gaga, but what can you do? It’s not about winning. It’s about filling our school with fun and spirit.
So STM, whatever the wacky occasion, be brave, have fun and take some risks.
