September 2013 brings St. Thomas More students a fresh new year and a new school extension! In the latter part of the 2010-11 school year, school Principal, Mrs. Fortino-Bozzo, announced that STM would be receiving money from the Ministry of Education to build an extension for its ever growing population. The new extension would be two stories, include 15 new classrooms, one new main entrance, a meeting room (made fully of glass, the students refer to it as “the fishbowl”), and new washrooms and staff workrooms.
Now, September 2013, the new extension is almost complete! With a few paint jobs and minor construction going on, the new extension is fully open to students, teachers, and staff. Luckily, it was ready for use on the first day of school, giving students a preview to the brand new halls and classrooms they would be in for years to come.
The modern structure is both appealing and clean looking, and students have made very positive comments on its design. Karyn Mukiri, fifth-year student at STM says, “I think it’s really cool and spacy, and I really like the modern feel it has!”
Yes, the new extension brings with it a modern feel and a fresh, new environment.
