On February 1, 2013, St Thomas More held its annual senior prom at Carmen’s Banquet Centre. This year’s theme was “A Knight on Broadway” and it felt as if STM was truly on Broadway. The prom started at 6:00 p.m., as guests and couples began to arrive. Everyone wore unique dresses and suits, looking absolutely amazing. The ladies had wonderful hair-dos, dresses, shoes, makeup, and corsages, making every girl a prom queen. The gentlemen also looked very handsome in their suits or tuxedos, complete with boutonnières.
The dinner tables were arranged wonderfully with disco balls as centerpieces and diamonds and stars covering the black tableclothes. It was the perfect arrangement and each plate had a goodie bag that was to be filled with candy before going home.
The first hour was very chaotic as everyone took pictures with their friends and dates. The bar was open with non-alcoholic drinks and servers gave out delicious appetizers. When the banquet hall began to get a bit loud and crowded, dinner began. For appetizers, each person had bread with butter and Farfalloni pasta with either bolognese or alfredo sauce. The main dish consisted of the chef’s vegetables with mashed potatoes and cordon bleu covered in red pepper sauce with chicken. Salad and veal were also served. For dessert, assorted cheesecakes were served in a cup. Dinner was delicious; the chefs and servers did an amazing job with the food.
Shortly after dinner, the lights started to dim, cueing that it was time to dance. The DJ was very well prepared and played a mixture of new and old songs. There were no pauses and the music flowed perfectly. Many started to dance with their friends and dates. Everyone was having a good time on the dance floor. Some even showed off their dance moves in a dance-off. It was very spectacular and the DJ kept the crowd dancing.
Outside of the dinner hall, there was a line up to take photos in a photo booth. Everyone enjoyed posing and accessorizing for them. The pictures will keep these perfect memories intact forever. This year's prom was definitely a night to remember and the Principal, Vice-Principals, teachers and everyone involved with this prom made it very successful.
